But I know a woman who had a baby. She and the baby almost died.

Her health was destroyed. As a result of that pregnancy and complicated labor, she developed multiple health conditions. It took her several decades to die from giving birth, the last decade of which was spent disabled, on dialysis, slowly dying by inches. Her pregnancy was not temporary. Every person who gets pregnant risks death or long-term disability because mammalian reproduction is extremely taxing even when nothing goes wrong.

In no other circumstance, none, do we feel it reasonable to demand that somebody risk their life and long term health for another.

Oh, and side note?

I'm that baby.
