Again. It is not possible to eradicate the virus. Doesn't matter what metric you use, if we can't eradicate it then we have to live with it. The ONLY way we could have done it would have been to physically lock every single human being in the planet in a room on their own and have people wearing full PPE feed them for two months in 2020. It was *never* on the cards. China keeps trying and people are dying from the mitigation methods, not an exaggeration...and it keeps getting in.

In Shanghai, people died because they had to have a negative PCR test to access life-saving medical treatment. And it's not working.

We can't eradicate this virus.

We can only come up with better and better ways to live with it. Improved vaccines and therapeutics. Research into "long COVID" (which is in fact a variety of syndromes. Long influenza happens too) could also help improve the quality of life of people suffering from chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia. We have potential treatments for the three most common causes, but need better.

Doesn't matter what metric...and all of the metrics are improving, albeit slowly...eradication wasn't possible in January 2020 and certainly isn't now.
