Ah, the "abortion as birth control" narrative. I have never, ever heard about anyone actually doing that.

First of all, it has been demonstrated over and over again that the easier it is to get effective contraception, the lower the abortion rate. This implies a good number of women are having sex without effective contraception because they can't get it, which is a very different narrative. This is the primary cause of the overall decline in abortions on the U.S. since 1981. There was a slight increase in 2020, likely spiked by economic consequences of the pandemic. (The most common motivation for abortion is *not being able to afford to be pregnant*).

Also, I am always disturbed by the idea that a human being is a "consequence" or "punishment" for sexual activity.
