Another Reason You Probably Don’t Want COVID Right Now

I really don’t want COVID right now. It would be particularly inconvenient to get sick over the next few weeks.

I mean, I don’t really want COVID at all.

But I just found out another reason you don’t want it, especially if you’re high risk. It’s a very petty reason, but it’s making me reach for a mask anyway.

It’s About Paxlovid

Paxlovid is wonderful. The people I know who have taken it say they got better very quickly. It shortens the course of the disease and reduces symptoms.

Now, not everyone can take it. It interacts with a laundry list of medications, including statins (People on statins can at least stop taking the statins until they get better) and potentially reduces the effectiveness of birth control (Jury’s still out, but…)

But the extra reason why I don’t want to get COVID and end up being prescribed it (right now I probably wouldn’t be because I’m relatively low risk).

It has a fun little side effect.

A truly vile after taste. I mean, everyone I know who has had to take it and a few people I’ve heard from that I don’t know says this shit is awful.

One person did say that chocolate fudge ice cream made the vile after taste go away.

So, add this to your list of reasons not to get COVID!

(Yes, this is a little light hearted, but I do hear it is really quite unpleasant).
