As somebody who dropped evil races and alignment from games literally years ago (Playing alignment-free is not that hard) I am very pleased they were removed from the default.

Not everyone agrees, but they can always keep using the older source books or make their own worlds...or tweak stuff just the way those of us who don't want these things have had to.

And as a side note, I had somebody say to me, a person of Jewish descent, that the Drow aren't racist because their evil is because of their religion.

I kid you not. (Anti-semitism is, yes, also a problem with some things in D&D, I'm looking at you, Starfinder).
