Before we think about gene editing human babies we need to get really, REALLY good at it in mice. We can track germline errors in mice easily because of the short generation.

And that's aside from the ethics; I personally believe gene editing should be used only to correct lethal or debilitating disease. I lost a friend to cystic fibrosis when I was in my late teens and would love to see it go away. But we also don't want to go into eugenics.
