Behold, a Man!
I’m in a bit of a weird mood today.
So, according to Lives and Opinions of the Eminent Philosophers, which was written by Diogenes Laërtius in the third century, Plato once said that a man was a featherless biped, and Diogenes the Cynic brought a plucked cock and said “Here is Plato’s man.”
And that has become a bit of a Tumblr meme.
Here’s my version, as it were.
Features of a Man
Bipedal.
Eats meat.
Typical walking speed 3 mph.
Typical running speed anywhere from 10mph to 25mph depending on how fit he is.
Evolved to hunt prey in packs.
Pretty good description, right?
Except I’m actually talking about Tyrannosaurus rex based on the most recent descriptions.
Oops.
But wait, didn’t T. rex have feathers? Most likely some, although they appear to have lost their downy coat as they matured and had feathers only on their head and tail.
“Naked except for the head” is a good descriptor too.
I’m just in a silly mood today and didn’t feel like doing a real post, so I decided that even Medium gets the “shitposts” some days.
