I love you, and for the most part we’ve had a good relationship.

What happened at Indianapolis, though, has be wanting to have you sleep on the couch for a little while.

I get it. You want to put on a good display for the fans, but this fan thinks there are limits.

When the track is unsafe, the race needs to be halted. If the track can’t be made safe, then the race needs to be called off.

For those who didn’t see the first Cup race on the road course at the Brickyard, let me explain what happened.

Crossover Weekend

The idea of crossover weekend was to give fans a weekend of racing…and get them watching other series. It started last year, but last year NASCAR ran on the oval.

This year, all three series, Indycar, Xfinity (the NASCAR second tier series) and the Cup were slated to run on the road course.

NASCAR would run the Cup cars last, on Sunday, with the other two races happening on Saturday. This may be key to understanding what happened.

Both of the other races went very well indeed. So did the first 79 laps of the Cup race.

Then something happened that this fan has never seen before, is not happy to have seen, and hopes never to see again.
