Equestrian is not split by gender (except for some rodeo sports and then it's only tradition, guys CAN barrel race and women CAN rope, but not so many do).

That said, one of the things the IOC is doing to increase gender equity at the Olympics is indeed more mixed gender teams and relays, in sports ranging from ski jumping to swimming to track.

So, that's already being done.

I also think we need to thoroughly evaluate whether we are doing any unnecessary gender splitting. Higher levels of testosterone are an advantage in some sports, but not others...and we still gender split sports in which testosterone does not make a difference.
