First of all, I think we need a new word for something like COVID or the 1918 flu. Superpandemic?
Monkeypox is, thankfully, a lot harder to get than COVID. This isn't going to send us into lock downs. It does mean that if you are inclined towards sexual hookups with strangers you should be careful right now. And this includes snogging, as face to face contact is a known way the virus transfers.
There have been outbreaks of monkeypox (which should really be called rodentpox).
(And by the way, if you have a pet rat or other rodent, they may be at risk of catching it and there's no vaccine for them. Thankfully, they don't get very sick, but...)
