Hand Saga — Part 2 — Eek!

My poor hand.

The Verdict

I saw an orthopedic surgeon last Wednesday.

“Do you want to see your x-rays?”

Of course I did. And the first word out of my mouth is “I need surgery.”

It didn’t take an expert eye to see that there was significant displacement of the bone. I go in tomorrow morning to get the bone straightened and pinned. It’s pretty routine and will be done with a nerve block and sedation. The pins will come out once the bone has some solid healing.

I also need occupational therapy to help reduce the loss of strength in my hand and to help me manage better while it heals.

I’ll keep everyone posted on how it goes!
