Honestly? I think this is just the way things are.

People lived their lives through World War II. People during the blitz did laundry and paid bills.

No doubt people also did so during the English Civil War, during the year without a summer in 1816 (which must have seemed hugely apocalyptic at the time).

We do so because we have to, because life does have to go on no matter what. Until it impacts us personally, and even then we deal with that impact, pick up and carry on.

This is one of the few times in my life when I haven't been angry about people randomly using "Keep calm and carry on" because this is what that phrase is for.
