I almost didn’t respond to this, but:

1. I didn’t use the term, I was making a comment about how it is hard for people who have it as a diagnosis to stop using it. Given Musk’s age, it probably IS the official diagnosis he was given.
2. Can we stop saying that being autistic is an excuse for being an asshole? Because it’s not. Because we can do better…but every time somebody calls it an excuse, one of us gives up and/or a NT person feels justified in, for example, not hiring an autistic person for a job they are perfectly qualified for on the assumption that they are automatically going to be a jerk.
3. It’s not a mental disorder. We are not mentally ill.
