I am in favor of automatic returns even if it wouldn't help me that much (as a freelancer, the IRS does *not* already have that information, there's no way they can, so I would still have to fill out some forms). It's absolutely ridiculous that the U.S. forces anyone to pay a single penny to meet a legal requirement...to for-profit companies. All of which suck.
