I am still mad with my parents for deciding, without asking me, that I was "too young" to be with my childhood dog when we had him put down.

He was older and had diabetes and we did it due to his extreme fear of needles, which would have made it unsafe to give him insulin injections. They took him to be assessed and came back without him."You didn't need to be there."

I was the one who found our budgie when he dropped dead in the middle of the night, probably because of an undiagnosed infection. Budgies are kind of fragile.

I could have taken it, but they "shielded" me. I spent more time with that dog than anyone.
