I am tempted to hand this person a copy of the first novella in the Murderbot series (they're best read in order).

This is a science fiction series in which the protagonist is a robot (technically a cyborg, kind of like the original Terminator).

Murderbot considers itself completely outside gender. Gender is for organic people or for, well...robots designed for certain other purposes. It has no sexual characteristics.

Ergo, Murderbot uses the it/its pronouns...but is a dynamic, wonderful character that is more human than some of the people around it.

For getting used to using "it" to refer to a sapient being...
