I hope you never become disabled and gain weight as a direct result.
Weight gain is a SYMPTOM of Type 2 diabetes, not its cause.
Weight gain is also a symptom of Cushing’s disease, pregnancy, menopause, PCOS, hypothyroidism, and depression.
It is a side effect of antidepressants, antipsychotics, birth control pills and corticosteroids.
All of the “disgustingly overweight” people I know are disabled or chronically ill in some way. I don’t know one single person who is overweight just because they are lazy and/or can’t resist junk food.
Additionally, fat shaming actually makes the person you are body shaming gain weight.
Fat shaming causes stress (which makes you eat more). Overweight people who experienced weight discrimination have a higher risk of becoming obese. Obese people who experience weight discrimination have a higher risk of staying obese.
Fat shaming can cause or worsen depression.
It can cause or worsen eating disorders.
Fat shaming and body shaming in general is, plain and simple, bullying.
And nobody likes a bully.
