I just flew a short hop on a Q-400 (modified Dash-8) and was thinking that it's going to go the way of the steam engine.

Dash-8 is bigger, but the route we were flying on was...well...22 minutes in the air, so range isn't an issue if we can get batteries to support the size.

Once we start electrifying these short routes, then turboprop aircraft will be something bought up by preservation societies to run as excursion flights ;). Which is a shame at some levels as they feel so much more alive than jets, but...
