I just got my Td booster yesterday (the pertussis element is recommended every 10 years only for people who live or work with young children).
I would like to remind everyone that tetanus vaccination is particularly important if you are around grazing animals of any kind, especially horses. If you or your kid is starting riding lessons or if you are planning a dude ranch vacation, PLEASE make sure you are up to date on tetanus. C. tetani spores are present in the soil and often in the digestive tract of grazing animals, who ingest small amounts of soil when they eat. This also means they are present in manure, so if you routinely use horse manure as fertilizer...
(I mean, everyone should get it, but a lot of people don't know about this particular risk factor and sometimes it worries me).
