I knew a couple who, so the disabled one could get Medicare, not only had to paper divorce...

...they had to separate and never actually be seen together in public. They had to pretend they hated each other. Because getting divorced as a technicality wasn't enough.

They had to actually cease to be not just a couple but friends.

Or the disabled one would have died.

We need to FIX this.
