I probably had a fair bit in the UK too, between the leaded gasoline (which wasn't actually *banned* until 2000, but was being phased out) and the fact that I lived in a house with lead pipes.

It was very hard to break the habit of running the tap until the temperature noticably dropped before filling a glass of water (for those who don't know, if you live in an old house with lead pipes and can't afford to get them redone, you run the water until you are drinking water that was sitting in the non-lead main, which where I grew up was cooler but in some parts of the south it might be the reverse).

I'm very glad we've done stuff about it. But there's still lead in the air in London even to this day. (London has an inversion layer so stuff reaaallly sticks around there, that's part of how the fatal smog happened).
