I refuse to use ride sharing companies, but I think one takeaway from this is to tip well on short trips.

This also reminds me of the time DoorDash tried to get me to tip a delivery driver $2 based on distance. I overrode it, paid them a decent tip, and haven't used DoorDash since. Because sorry, $2 is not a tip, it's an insult.
