I see this kind of attitude about the South all the dang time, in general, but yes especially Mississippi.

There is no place on this planet that does not have some good humans in it. None. And it's easy for those of us further north to dismiss and fail to understand the struggles of Black and LGBT southerners, or who don't understand why they don't just leave the place where they grew up, the place they no doubt love.
