I still have people telling me I am irresponsible for taking public transportation (when I don't own a car).
People are still saying you should care about Not Getting COVID over preserving your mental health, going to the doctor when you need to. I had somebody tell me to go back into lockdown so I don't "get long COVID."
My response: That is a 100% chance of major depression (I am not exaggerating when I say I was nonfunctional for two months in 2020).
Theirs: Depression is a symptom of long COVID too.
Uh, yeah, a 100% chance of depression is not better than a...I dunno how the math works, but probably about a 5% risk given I'm vaccinated and boosted and taking *reasonable* precautions. I was still supposed, in their mind, to make myself really sick in order to avoid a chance of being really sick.
Because we're bad at risk management.
Systemic shaming is a really, REALLY good way of putting it.
