I think it absolutely is changing. It's changing because more people who are not white are writing epic fantasy.

What we have to do is push for them to get opportunities. They shouldn't have to be as good as N.K. Jemisin to get any kind of support.

Tomi Adeyemi and Jordan Kurella come to mind in the YA space. I love Kurella's work (even if I do want to yell at her protagonist).

Rebecca Roanhorse's Sixth World series is also quite good. Roanhorse is Black and Native American.

I have to mention R.F. Kuang's The Poppy War even though it's too grimdark for my current mood. It's very dark.

There's a bunch more that I haven't got around to reading.

In other words, we fix this by signal boosting and supporting authors who are not of European descent and thus not as steeped in Euro-fantasy.

Then hopefully we can get some of these wonderful books on the screen.
