I think the doomsaying is a combination of three things:

1. Reentry anxiety (People afraid to go back to normal).

2. "If I make people scared enough more of them will get vaccinated."

3. Anxiety that it's not over and another shoe will drop. Will we have a big fall wave? (My guess is "Only in those communities where not enough people got vacced).

I have a lot of #3, so I understand it.
