I think we can do it with *acute* trauma. I had a horseback riding accident and I did indeed black out very temporarily.

I remember thinking about the next jump and starting the turn.

The next thing I remember is picking myself up off the ground and looking to see where my horse went.

I had to ask the ring steward what happened. He slipped on the mud and fell on me. I was amazingly unhurt, probably because it was so muddy I got pushed into the ground. Horse was also unhurt. Definitely no head trauma involved.

But I do not to this day remember the actual fall and presumably (and thankfully) never will.

Obviously, that’s a different thing from what you are talking about with child abuse and people claiming to have hypnotized people into remembering it. Different kind of trauma. And we’re talking a matter of seconds.
