I think what is going on with both flu and RSV is people have stopped taking precautions and now everyone is getting sick at once. Some places are also getting outbreaks of enterovirus (which causes mild flu-like symptoms) and, of course, of the normal constellation of "colds." I'm not sure if weakened immunity plays a role, but I definitely think behavior plays one.
