I was expecting to hate read this story given the fight over queer.

First of all, in SF&F, queer is COMMON as an umbrella term. Queers Destroy Science Fiction, Hashtag Queer, etc...it's what tends to be put in anthology titles. This is probably because queer is so heavily used in academia.

I am bisexual. I am also queer. And I agree that not everyone LGBT is queer, but understand that there are contexts in which it being uses as an umbrella term are traditional.
