I'd also add that the majority of the obese people I have known have a medical condition of some kind, whether it's causing them to gain weight, resulting in the need for meds that have weight gain as a side effect, curtailing their ability to exercise or some combination of the above.

Another segment are poor and can't afford good food, whether because they live in a food desert, literally can't afford good food, or don't have time to cook and end up relying on fast food.

It's systemic.

In fact, I personally assume that if I see a reasonably affluent person carrying a lot of weight, that it's not about willpower but about something they have going on with their health. Because that's so much more likely.

Diet culture causes a lot of harm.
