I'd say it's not a mental health disorder to be anxious about money when:

1. Most people can't afford a house.

2. Rent goes up by 3 to 10 percent (ours once hit 11) every year, while income goes up by...a lot less than that.

3. Many people live in states where they can be fired without notice or warning at any time.

4. Most of us are not going to be able to retire but will have to work until our health fails completely.

It's not easy to be content when everything you have could be taken away from you tomorrow and you have more power over whether other people can pay the rent than whether you do.

This isn't a mental health problem. This is a society problem. Financial security requires more income than the vast majority of people will ever be able to make.
