If God is omniscient, then He knows that the child will not survive. Why would He put a soul in there? Does a non-viable, deformed infant with no forebrain (essential for consciousness) have a soul?

I'll tell you who DOES have a soul: The person carrying that baby, who is risking her life to do so (because ALL pregnancies are life threatening. If babies weren't so cute we wouldn't do it).

The older siblings who might be facing the loss of their mother or going hungry as she struggles to feed everyone....or struggles with the medical debt.

You can disagree with abortion, but consequences of criminalizing it include:

* Maternal suicide, especially amongst teen girls.

* Criminal investigation of miscarriage. In El Salvador, where abortion is completely illegal, women have faced 30 year jail terms for miscarriage.

* Elevated maternal mortality, especially in countries such as Chile and Malta, which outlaw abortion *even if the mother is going to die and the child has zero chance of survival*.

* Maternal mortality from unsafe abortions. Additionally, many wome become permanently infertile from attempting traditional, unsafe abortion means.

* Children being orphaned from any of the above, which increases childhood mortality, mental health consequences.

Criminalizing abortion does not reduce abortion. It reduces safe abortion and literally, directly kills women.
