If I try to go to sleep at your so-called optimum hour then I don't sleep. It has taken me years to train my body that midnight, not 2am, is reasonable.

Evolution actually gave us natural night owls and early birds for a reason, and the reason night owls are at higher risk is because we struggle to get enough sleep in a society that tells us we are Wrong, Bad and Lazy for not springing out of bed cheerfully at 7am or earlier.

I work as a freelancer to avoid that and so I can actually get enough sleep and be healthy.

The idea that we are all biologically optimized to the same schedule is completely wrong. When we were wild animals, we needed people to stay up late to watch for predators and people to get up early to watch for predators. Modern life forces everyone onto the same schedule.

Look up "social jetlag" some time.
