If you didn't like the original, then you probably won't like the sequel.

The project supposedly wasn't touched for 30 years is the explanation. But also, Quantum Leap is no more science fiction than Doctor Who is. There is no feasible scientific explanation for why the leaper has to do good deeds...one has to invoke magic or a prime mover.

The Doctor is just a crappy pilot. River Song steers the TARDIS just fine!
