I'm *white* and more afraid of the cops. I won't call them for many incidents because I fear they will escalate a situation into violence. I do sometimes call the state troopers over traffic issues (such as that one time there was a giant blue recycling bin blowing around in a center lane of I-95), but...

I have not called the cops in situations where somebody really needed the cops called on them because the incident could be better contained by people who aren't cops.

Cops escalate when they should deescalate and then endanger everyone around them. Black people and the mentally ill face the most danger, but none of us are safe around cops.
