In many states it is legal to fire somebody instantly for no reason. This completely defangs any anti-discrimination legislation (all they have to do is be careful not to say anything). It defangs anti-retaliation legislation too. And the so-called conservatives are fighting to make this national.

It's a fight that doesn't get nearly enough attention.
