It took me forever to find a cabin for a recent trip that I could book without going through AirBnB, too.

(I found one and it was amazing...it's often a challenge to find one that has both a bathroom and a kitchen and isn't designed for eight people).

This is yet another reason not to use them. I get doing background checks, but they should be looking only at stuff that might impact the safety of hosts or guests.
