It’s not as prevalent as it used to be. But I was forced into skirts in school as an adolescent and then again in a job where I was forced to wear a skirt suit, pantyhose and dress shoes…thankfully they did NOT mandate makeup. The thing is? It was a short term data entry job in a back corner of the office where basically nobody ever saw me, but I still had to wear freaking *pantyhose*. And that was in the mid 90s, so not even THAT long ago.
