It's not weird.

I know something about what goes on in the HR space and there's a lot of interest in gamification in several areas:

1. Productivity improvement.

2. Safety training (safety training disguised as little mini games you're supposed to play on your phone during downtime).

3. Employee recognition, esp. peer recognition.

4. Employee wellness programs. Step counting awards and the like.

I've tried gamification for productivity. Doesn't work for me. Does work for some of my friends. Because it doesn't work for everyone, it's not a good idea to enforce. Some people will actually (hi) get distracted *by the gamification*. Ahem.

But no, it's not weird, because a lot of employers are talking about stuff like that right now.

Doesn't mean it's a good idea.
