It's *possible* that a rudder problem that has plagued the 737-800 in the past isn't as fixed as they thought.

It's also possible one of the pilots decided to commit suicide and take the plane with him.

I'm reserving all judgment until I know...and the safety record of the 737-800 HAS overall been very good. But I would hesitate before getting on a MAX.

(I flew two legs on the exact 737-800 involved in the crash last week, including into mountainous country, and admit I'm glad I didn't hear about it until I got back!).
