I've had the privilege of sitting on a "stage" (the room was too small to have one) and talking about Star Wars in public with Timothy Zahn.

This was before the sequel trilogy and I expressed a lack of concern about the new movies by saying Guardians of the Galaxy was the best Star Wars film since Return of the Jedi and Zahn laughed, but absolutely agreed with me (If you're a Star Wars fan, watch that trilogy too, they're 100% in the same spirit).

He has also told me that he is not bothered by all of this. Whether that's true or whether he was being "nice" I don't know. But he knew what he agreed to.

He has revisited the character of Thrawn in the excellent novel simply titled Thrawn that everyone should get.

He's proud that they used Coruscant.

That said, I absolutely agree with telling everyone what he added to the canon. And those books are well worth a read even after all of these years. Thrawn is even better, because he's grown as a writer since.
