Just as a note, while I can personally vouch for the fact that the Icelandic tolt makes the rider less weary, it's also very similar to the rack, which is performed by racking horses and some Morgans.

Gaited horses used to be the most prized riding horses until we stopped riding long distances as a means of transportation, then they faded out. The Icelandic breed is an untouched genetic reservoir as no horses have been imported since the 11th century...they're pure Medieval horses.

And everyone should try riding one because omg that tolt...
