Just going to drop these here.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5457636/ — an article demonstrating that BMI z-score does not work well in prepubescent children.

https://patient.info/news-and-features/are-bmi-charts-useful-for-children — talks about how the way BMI is calculated for children makes taller children show as having a higher BMI and also about how it is racist when used in children. Black kids tend to have a higher BMI and south Asian kids a lower one.

https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2017/05/170515122214.htm — another paper which talks about how tri-ponderal mass index is more accurate than BMI in adolescents.

BMI is crock in adults. It is extra crock in children.

https://health4u.msu.edu/articles/2019-kids-dont-need-to-diet-ever — article from Michigan State University about the negative consequences of putting children on diets, which include an increased risk of eating disorders, under-aged smoking, and…oh, hey! Putting on weight as adults.

https://pediatrics.aappublications.org/content/141/4/e20172955?sso=1&sso_redirect_count=1&nfstatus=401&nftoken=00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000&nfstatusdescription=ERROR%3A%20No%20local%20token — this paper demonstrates that parents putting teenagers on a diet increases the risk of: Binge eating, unhealthy weight control behaviors, lower body satisfaction and, of course…obesity.

So, not only is BMI crock in kids, kids should not be dieting period.
