Looking at this from very much the outside, I think it very much IS about people who can't tell the difference between a trans woman, a drag queen, a pantomime dame, or an onnagata.

And lumping #1 of those in with the others is implying that trans people are performative and pretending. I would argue that the only trans people who are performative and pretending...are the unfortunates still stuck in the closet.

This doesn't mean we should denigrate drag. It means we should educate people. Which is...hard.
