My father refused to walk me down the aisle, outright.

He said "You aren't my property to give away."

I was too nervous to do it on my own so I walked down the aisle with my maid of honor.

I suspect he might have done it if I'd begged him.

Ultimately it is the bride's decision and the father has the right to refuse, but not to demand.
