My great aunt had schizophrenia. She never harmed anyone, although by the time I knew her she was in memory care (schizophrenia is linked to dementia, I believe) and I only remember her as a sweet, confused old lady who could never remember how old I was. But I know she was never a danger to others. Maybe a little bit to herself as she got old and her cognition declined.
