These bans are, though, aimed at trans people because they are worded in a way that pushes us more towards the outdated requirement to present in a way that tells everyone what genitals they have in public.
They also impact other forms of gender impersonation. For example, the Tennessee drag ban would class traditional British pantomime, which is aimed at pre-teens as the primary audience, as adult entertainment. There's a lot of difference between a queen and a dame, or a king and a principal boy, but these people would never understand that.
