Ooh, that's a good point! They would absolutely have dropped/lost tools. Now, how well those tools would have survived would depend on what they were made of. It is *possible* they only used biodegradable materials or metal (which the locals found and melted down). But it's very unlikely there would be no evidence of our technology.

And yes, we should be teaching kids about things like how the Egyptians actually built the Great Pyramid, not to mention what we know of what these structures were for and how they impacted the culture.

For example, you could explain to a kid that the pyramid at Chichen Itza served the same social purpose as Notre Dame. Because it did.
