Published in a journal which uses the term "autogynephilia," which has been almost completely debunked.

I will counter with:

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32345113/ - which discusses the high rate of suicide amongst trans youth and the role of social and familial acceptance in reducing suicide rates.

https://www.cmaj.ca/content/194/22/E767 - also demonstrates a higher risk of suicide, but includes gay and bisexual kids too...but shows that trans and non-binary kids have by far the highest risk.

https://www.liebertpub.com/doi/10.1089/trgh.2021.0079 Also talks about how social and peer acceptance reduces suicide risk.

Multiple studies bear out, over and over, that not accepting trans children and not allowing them to transition literally causes some of them to die.

Youth transition may or may not involve medical interventions. One of my friends has a child who is nonbinary. They are not interested in surgical or medical intervention but only want their gender to be acknowledged.

These people want to deny them that. Even the simple fact of acceptance.

Another friend has a child (no longer a child) who is also non-binary and the only medical intervention they sought was breast reduction...because they were unfortunate enough to inherit their mother's backbreaking rack.

Puberty blockers are temporary. Social transition even more so. If it is a phase, and we indulge it, and they switch back no harm is done. If it is not and we tell them YOU ARE A GIRL/BOY, they may die.

Die.

These people claim to be protecting these children. They are not.

WE are protecting them. Yes, some youth will detransition and that is why we don't do surgery under 18 in almost all cases. Maybe 16 if they are really badly off.

Some of these bans are being proposed to go up to age 26! A 25 year old looks like a kid to me at this point, but that's old enough to consent to any other kind of medical procedure.
