Really good point! Any adult should be able to get cosmetic surgery as long as there is no medical reason why not.

(I specify adult for a reason. Outside of cosmetic deformities, girls shouldn't be getting implants until their breasts are fully developed both for medical reasons and because they might realize that once their breasts reach final form they're okay with them after all).

But there's another side to this.

Oh boy are women judged if they want to do something that goes against their gender's beauty standards. Breast reduction is seen as something you only do if it's necessary, but I'm thinking of a specific group of women here:

Cancer survivors who choose not to undergo breast reconstruction after a double mastectomy. Hoo BOY do they get judged...and often given the wrong kind of surgery that assumes they will naturally change their minds.
